The Hass Avocado Board has released a new tool to help merchandizers prioritize potential opportunities in 45 U.S. markets.

The Market Development Took gives overviews of cities across the U.S., highlighting a range of data that indicate strong performance of avocados in the cities, and opportunities for growth in those cities.

Some of the data points look at:

The market’s share of avocado volume sales compared to share of population;
If avocados are over- or under-developed in the market relative to the population;
An analysis of bagged avocado sales and distribution;
Where are the biggest gapes in avocado distribution compared to total produce; and
What market development strategies for hass avocados are suggested by the market dynamics.

The data used in the Market Development Tool comes from IRI/Freshlook, with reports produced by Fusion. Data is from the 52 weeks ending on Dec. 30, 2018.

The Market Development Tool is a companion to the Market Opportunity Matrix, released the Hass Avocado Board in January. The matrix profiles each of the 45 markets, and the Market Development Tool allows avocado marketers and merchandisers “to identify, quantify, and prioritize potential market-level opportunities for their business and provides the capability of creating one-page customized reports by market,” according to a news release.
