Ocean Mist Farms conducted its annual Gold Standard promotion from April 13 to May 13.

“We questioned if now was the right time to run this annual promotion,” Diana McClean, senior director of marketing for Ocean Mist Farms, said in a news release.

Though the Gold Standard promotion launched during the nationwide COVID-19 shutdown, consumers were receptive. Earning Ocean Mist 23 million brand impressions and 545,000 promotion-specific website visits, the promotion focused on the health and nutrition benefits of Ocean Mist’s Gold Standard artichokes.

“Because of the tremendous consumer following we’ve developed that relies on Ocean Mist Farms, we wanted to not only encourage consumers to purchase artichokes for their health benefits, but to also assure them that the produce they re purchasing is of the highest quality,” McClean said in the release.

There was a 3.6% increase in year-over-year artichoke sales for the promotion period. More than 28,000 shoppers participated in the sweepstakes.

“With this promotion and our other marketing efforts to shoppers during the nationwide shutdown, we have seen above average performance confirming that people do look to fresh produce brands for information and inspiration,” according to the release.
