Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers’ Juici apple is enjoying brisk holiday demand in more than 3,000 stores, and the company expects to add another 740 retail carriers in January.
Bruce Turner, national marketing representative for the Wenatchee, Wash.-based company, said consumer feedback from in-store sampling has been positive.
“We’re constantly being told that this is an incredibly juicy apple with great flavor. It’s very crisp, very crunchy. Some shoppers have told us it’s their ‘favorite apple ever,’” Turner said in a news release.
Oneonta offers point-of-sales materials to retail customers, including free-standing display bins, posters, POS cards and customized materials. Juici is shipped in 27-pound Euro cartons, five-pound poly bags and two-pound resealable pouch bags, according to the release.
U.S. production of Juici, a Honeycrisp and braeburn cross, is expected to nearly triple in the next two years as new trees come into production, according to the release.
Oneonta, which holds worldwide exclusive marketing rights for the variety, is also eyeing growth in Asia and will eventually have Southern Hemisphere production to ensure a year-round supply, Turner said in the release.
