West Pak earns Fairtrade Mark for ethical sourcing

West Pak Avocado, Murrieta, California has received the Fairtrade America Fairtrade Mark, a recognition the company ensures it ethically sources product.

West Pak can use the sustainability certificate on avocado packaging to let buyers know it purchases from Fairtrade Farms.

“West Pak has met all of the organization’s rigorous standards and is therefore now sourcing and marketing Fairtrade avocados,” Mario Pacheco, West Pak CEO, said in the release. “For us, as a company, this is an important step — it demonstrates that we are truly dedicated to enabling farmers and workers so they have more control of their lives and can decide how to invest in their own futures.”

Fairtrade America is the U.S. arm of an international fair trade certification system.
