California Giant Berry Farms says it is preparing for its annual transition to the Pacific Northwest blueberry growing region, with harvest expected to kick off around mid-to-late June and offer strong, promotable volumes for July.
The upcoming harvest hits at peak consumer demand for fresh berries, according to the company. With peak volumes aligning with July demand, California Giant suggests retail partners secure ad placements and plan to expand display sets during the month’s highest-traffic weeks.
Blueberries remain a popular berry among surveyed consumers in The Packer’s Fresh Trends 2026, making consistent summer supply a critical driver for produce department success.
The company says that along with its conventional and organic blueberries, its Giant jumbo blueberries — with fruit 20 millimeters or larger in diameter — also deliver strong retail performance and support premium price points and high-impact displays.
Jumbo blueberries show 60% year-over-year growth, and this offers retailers a compelling opportunity to drive incremental sales and differentiate in a competitive category, according to the company.
“Our Pacific Northwest growing regions are shaping up beautifully, and we anticipate an outstanding crop just in time for the heart of summer,” says Tom Smith, vice president of sales and marketing at California Giant Berry Farms. “The region officially kicks off in mid-to-late June; the July outlook is incredibly strong. We encourage retailers to secure July promotions early and maximize display space to capture strong consumer demand and drive category growth.”
