Trucco introduces sustainable 2-pound KiwiStar package

Trucco Inc., Bronx, N.Y., is introducing eco-friendly packaging for KiwiStar brand kiwifruit.

The two-pound containers will be for conventional and organic fruit and is plastic-free, made from recyclable paperboard. The packaging allows for ventilation while keeping the fruit secure, according to a news release.

The package also includes a convenient handle.

“Trucco recognizes the damage of plastic pollution, and it has taken a major leap forward as a result of our brand-new sustainable paperboard packaging,” according to the release.

The packaging is part of the KiwiStar/Cares program, a new charity initiative that will partner with organizations, including those whose initiative include cleaning plastics from the ocean, according to the release.

The company is temporarily shifting contributions to Jack D. Weiler Hospital in the Bronx, to support health care professionals.
