Castellini Co. enters into agreement with Curation Foods
CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Castellini Group of Companies, one of the largest produce supply chain services providers in the United States, announces Transportation Management, Warehousing and Transportation Services Agreement with Curation Foods, a subsidiary of Landec Corporation (Nasdaq: LNDC).
The agreement covers logistics operations for most of Curation Foods, one of Landec’s two operating businesses.
Castellini will oversee the management, contracting and pricing negotiations with freight carriers, perform dispatch services and freight carrier performance management. Warehousing
and distribution will be managed through Castellini’s facilities, and Landec’s Rock Tavern, New York facility, will be transferred to Castellini. “We are very excited about this partnership with Landec and their mission to expand access to fresh, plant based products. This is a great example of how Castellini’s existing distribution networks, the many locations we service, and the frequency with which we deliver to these locations, provide our customers with opportunities that otherwise would be too costly to develop on their own. Curation’s dedication to delicious, fresh and healthy foods makes them a perfect partner to leverage the value of our organization,” says Brian Kocher, President and CEO of Castellini.
Tim Burgess, Curation Foods’ Senior Vice President, Supply Chain, stated, “We are excited to partner with Castellini, one of the largest fresh produce distributors in the United States. We conducted an extensive search to find the right strategic logistics partner, and Castellini’s logistics expertise, built over a 125 year period, will provide Curation Foods with increased service levels, including almost daily deliveries in many markets, as well as deliveries into new markets where we currently do not operate our existing distribution network. This results in fresher produce and salads for our existing customers and longer shelf life for our customers.”
“Leveraging our produce expertise, we have built Castellini into a supply chain services provider that offers a wide range of services from ripening or packaging, all the way to managing our partners’ warehousing operations to complete inventory management. And by doing so, we can improve delivery schedules, transportation costs and operational overhead, and ultimately deliver cost savings and a fresher product,” Kocher continued.
