USA Pears offers virtual tools focused on flavor
Pear Bureau Northwest is offering virtual visitors several digital tools at its Fresh Summit exhibit, and the message centers on flavor.
“Our big focus is a commitment to flavor,” said Kathy Stephenson, director of marketing communications for the organization. “We know consumers shop for pears because of flavor and there are steps our industry takes and is taking to ensure the best flavor on the shelf.”
Stephenson says the group is encouraging retailers to consider displaying conditioned pears to grow the category.
“We’ve developed the videos and content on our marketplace page to focus on the flavor commitment,” she said,
Pear Bureau is offering a web seminar to retailers on the topic on Oct. 15, which will be available for replay later.
“In a time of new variety introductions, we want the produce industry to know that a ripe anjou is the new pear variety, and can grow the category.”
