Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc., a cooperative whose 700 owner-members grow in the U.S., Canada and Chile, reports that its entire crop is grown sustainably.

All Ocean Spray cranberries are certified by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative, a Brussels-based organization, which considers soil, water, ecosystems and the communities in the area near production areas as it certifies farms.

Ocean Spray is also working with National Geographic to support “fieldwork in regenerative agriculture,” according to a news release. The National Geographic fieldwork that Ocean Spray will support includes bee-friendly agriculture, automated land-use, and “global mapping of center pivot agriculture,” according to the release.

“We are now able to apply the learnings from our farms by supporting National Geographic’s work, shaping the importance of regenerative farming to combat climate change in the context of an agricultural system under pressure to feed 8.3 billion people by 2030,” Christina Ferzli, head of global corporate affairs and communications at Ocean Spray, said in the release.

Additional initiatives will be rolled out this year to focus on climate change and health.

Five percent of the cooperative's cranberries are sold as fresh, according to Ocean Spray.
