Mucci, Mastronardi, Little Potato Co., La Huerta earn CPMA honors

A paper top seal package from Mucci Farms and a snacking tomato from Mastronardi Produce’s Honey Bombs line were among the recipients of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s New Produce Showcase Awards.

The awards, a virtual event this year because the COVID-19 pandemic forced the CPMA to cancel its convention and expo, were announced May 13.

The four awards and the products in each category, according to a news release, are:

  • Best New Product: The Little Potato Co.’s Easy Sides: Seasoned and fully-cooked creamer potatoes in four flavors that are ready in seven minutes;
  • Best Snackable Product: Mastronardi’s Sunset brand Honey Bombs Golden Cherry Tomatoes-on-the-Vine; the latest addition to the Bombs line of on-the-vine snacking tomatoes;
  • Packaging Innovation Award: Mucci Farm’s paper top seal, available in multiple formats on Mucci Farms products, making the packaging 100% recyclable; and
  • Organic Product Award: La Huerta Imports’ Wana Bana Organic Fruit Puree, made from fruits from Ecuador, with no added ingredients.

Forty-four companies submitted 56 products for the annual competition, according to the release, which was sponsored by Canadian Grocer. All entries for the competition are featured on the CPMA’s convention website.
