Ayco Farms Inc., Pompano Beach, Fla., is starting its 15th offshore melon season in November.

The company imports large seedless watermelons, MiniMe branded personal-sized seedless watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydews and two specialty melons that it had discontinued growing, galia and juan canary.

“With overwhelming positive feedback and demand from our customers, we have decided to integrate these flavorful varieties into our production again,” Ben Nir, who is on the sales team, said in a news release.

“Within these 15 years of growing, shipping and packing, Ayco has faced many challenges that as a team they have overcome, but none have been as challenging as the ongoing and unpredictable effects of COVID-19,” according to a news release from the company.

Ayco Farms has implemented changes in packinghouses to ensure employees maintain safe distances, with increased sanitation at both facilities.

“I am so proud of my team on how they are handling things at our farms post-COVID,” President Avi Nir said in the release. “Our managers and our employees have worked hard to make our farms as safe as possible.”
