Giorgio Foods Inc., Temple, Pa., has two additions to its mushroom jerky line: Smokehouse Bacon and Hot & Spicy Cajun Style.

The new flavors join others in Giorgio Foods’ Savory Wild branded mushroom jerky line: Roasted Garlic & Black Pepper, Sweet Balsamic & Golden Fig, and Sesame, Ginger & Korean Chili. They recently received the 2020 Backpacker Editor’s Choice Award, according to a news release.

The line of jerky made from portabella mushrooms is seeing a boost from plant-based diet trends.

“As a category leader in the U.S. mushroom market, Giorgio Fresh Co. and Giorgio Foods continue to place strong emphasis on mushroom-based innovation,” Brian  Loiseau, senior vice president of sales and product development for Giorgio Foods, said in the release. “Consumer interest and understanding around the culinary and nutritional benefits of mushrooms continue to grow, and we are striving to bring new ways to consume mushrooms to the marketplace.”

The company grows the portabellas for the Savory Wild jerky and produces and packs the jerky near the farm. The jerky is sold online, natural food stores and in major grocery chains nationwide.
