Trust in foodservice returning, but sales still lag

Most foodservice suppliers responding to a survey by The Packer report their foodservice business still lags well behind pre-pandemic levels, but it’s starting to come back.

Responding to the question, “As of early June, on a percentage basis, how would you rate your company’s foodservice business compared with pre-pandemic levels?”

Nine foodservice suppliers responded with answers ranging from 40% to 100%, with an average response of 71.5%.

The survey also asked, “On a percentage basis, how much trust do you think consumers currently have in restaurants as safe places to gather, compared with before the pandemic?”

The nine suppliers put their opinion on consumer trust from 70% to 100% trust, with an average estimate of 81% consumer trust.
