Whole Foods Market has opened its newest store at 2323 Wisconsin Ave. N.W. in Washington, D.C.’s Glover Park neighborhood. The 21,500-square-foot store offers more than 800 local products from nearly 100 local suppliers, all hand-selected by Kathleen Leverenz, Mid-Atlantic local forager for Whole Foods.
The Glover Park store is the first of two Whole Foods stores expected to open this year that feature Amazon’s "Just Walk Out" technology. With "Just Walk Out" shopping, the store provides customers the choice to skip the register for a faster, more convenient shopping experience, says the Austin, Texas-based grocer.
The new store features an array of organic, conventional, local and "Sourced for Good" produce, plus local offerings that include packaged salads from Bowery Farming’s Nottingham, Md. farm and Gotham Greens’ Baltimore farm, as well as dressings from Tessamae’s.
Additional highlights of the Glover Park store include a prepared foods section with hot and cold food bars and a large assortment of ready-to-eat soups.
Amazon Prime members who shop at Whole Foods Market have access to a number of benefits year-round, says the company, such as deep discounts on select popular products each week and an additional 10% off hundreds of in-store sale items.
