Besides maximizing domestic sales, Wisconsin potato marketers are looking to expand markets in Mexico and Canada, says Dana Rady, director of promotion, communication and consumer education for the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association.

Rady said the association is working on export expansion in Canada and Mexico.

“We plan on attending the Canadian Produce Marketing Association trade show in April and have translated our newly designed, 5-pound and 10-pound russet potato bags to be in compliance with standards for Mexico,” Rady said. “We are also working on a few promotional videos to showcase online that will feature information about Wisconsin potatoes.”

In promotion efforts, Rady said the association is engaged in billboard and television advertising and working with influencers that include  Mad Dog and Merrill, Gabe Sommers Racing, the association’s consulting dietician, Farming for the Future Foundation, Kids from Wisconsin and more.
