The company’s second annual report highlights its efforts in sustainability such as utilizing organic diversion programs in 85% of its stores.

The International Fresh Produce Association’s annual Foodservice Conference in Monterey, Calif., brought together more than 2,220 attendees, including produce suppliers, menu innovators, K-12 professionals and more.

Strawberries are going strong in California, and blueberries are available from California, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon and Washington. Blackberries and raspberries are available from the East Coast, California, Washington and Oregon.

Imports supplied about half of the total asparagus supply consumed in the U.S. in 2000 (51%), but that number has continued to rise since then.

The remodel completes a second phase of store upgrades including new interior décor, upgraded deli section, redesigned produce department and more.

The funds will provide more than 40 scholarships to families of military veterans and first responders.

New grocery partnership will offer consumers same-day delivery from hundreds of locations, with SNAP/EBT payment capabilities coming later this year.

While the forecast is down 7% from USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Services’ May report, it still shows a larger crop is expected this year.
