The new items will be on display as part of the Fresh Ideas Showcase at the event, July 26-27 in Monterey, Calif. The items will be showcased at the Church Brothers booth, No. 100, on July 27.
More information about the new vegetable items, according to a news release:
- Sweet Baby Broccoli: Available in a 10-pound loose field pack, its sweet flavor and tender stalks make it a trending menu item. Church Brothers is growing the foodservice item through the Growers Express commodity program the company acquired this year.
- Tuscan Baby Romaine: “This version of Romaine offers a creative, healthy serving vehicle; thing boats and tacos,” Kori Tuggle, vice president of marketing and product development, said in the release. “The shorter leaves create multiple ways to use across menu applications.”
- Sandwich Ready Leaves: A hybrid with romaine and iceberg properties, the leaves are triple-washed and ready-to-use with no waste. They were developed “to frame a burger bun or sandwich with just the right amount of green frill and sweet flavor,” Tuggle said in the release.
Church Brothers is hosting a bocce ball tournament July 24, and is co-sponsoring the event’s main speaker, Ted Allen, at 11 a.m. July 26. Later that day, the company is hosting customers and special guests at its annual party at Tom Church’s ranch.
Church Brothers is also hosting students from PMA’s Center for Growing Talent during the show.
“We plan for the foodservice show all year,” Tuggle said in the release. “We love having guests visit our ranches and salad plant to see first-hand the hard work and quality we put into every product year-round.”
