Ippolito International is adding California asparagus from Coastal View Packing, Gonzales, Calif., as well as adding organic asparagus.

Ippolito also hired Alicia Blanco in a new full-time marketing position and Patrick Collins as vice president of agriculture operations at Ippolito’s Salinas, Calif., office.

“California production allows us to service our customer base for a longer period as well as offer up organic asparagus,” Dan Canales, senior vice president of sales, marketing and processing, said in a news release. “We now offer our customers an asparagus program supplying product roughly eight months out of the year.”

Blanco was the marketing manager for Misionero Vegetables, Gonzales. Collins was senior director of farming operations for Dole Fresh Vegetables, Monterey, Calif.

Organic asparagus is available in one-pound bunches and value-added pack sizes, according to the release.
