Temple, Pa.-based Giorgio Fresh Co. has added a new flavor — Garlic Parmesan — to its line of stuffed mushrooms, said Bryan Shelton, vice president of sales and marketing.
The Kennett Square, Pa.-based mushroom company is opening the most modern, state-of-the-art mushroom farm in the U.S. on Jan. 19 and will increase overall production by 20%, said Michael Richmond.
Mushrooms remain a Top 10 seller in fresh vegetables and are an important contributor to the success of the produce department, says Anne-Marie Roerink, principal and founder of 210 Analytics.
The category has grown as consumers “continue to focus on eating healthy organic produce and venturing out into new mushroom varieties as well,” says Sean Steller, director of business development.
The potato industry is set to gather for a star-studded event in Denver, where attendees can learn about the newest technology, methods and research during National Potato Council’s Potato Expo, Jan. 4-5.
The organization provides retailers with tips to maximize potato categories throughout the store and online to increase long-term sales, said Kayla Vogel, senior global marketing manager for consumer and retail.
