Salinas, Calif.-based Pacific International Marketing Inc. expects to have 500 to 600 more organic acres ready to farm this year, said Kim Fellom, sales executive and marketing manager.
The company carries an extensive selection of organic items year-round, including broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, kale and parsley.
Up to 20% of the company’s products now are organically grown, compared to about 5% five or 10 years ago, she said.
Fellom said she expects sales to increase.
“Now that prices have come down, we are seeing everyone coming back in for all items, so movement is up across the board,” she said.
