By value, both U.S. imports and exports of grapes were up in 2018.
Trade statistics from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show that total U.S. fresh grape imports in 2018 were $1.56 billion, up 1% from $1.54 billion in 2017.
U.S. grape imports have been trending higher, with 2018 imports up 32% from $1.18 billion in 2013.
Chile was the top supplier of grapes to the U.S., accounting for 50% of total U.S. grape import value in 2018. Mexico and Peru were also big grape suppliers to the U.S., accounting for 26% and 23%, respectively, of total import grape value.
Meanwhile, U.S. exports of fresh grapes in 2018 totaled $787 million, up 1% from $779 million in 2017. Compared with 2013,
U.S. exports of fresh grapes in 2018 were 14% lower than 2013 exports of $912 million, according to the USDA.
Canada was the top export market for U.S. grapes in 2018, accounting for about 25% of total exports. Other top export destinations were Mexico, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Australia.
