Gourmet's Finest promotes Mushroom Crumbles
NEW YORK — Gourmet’s Finest promoted its Mushroom Crumbles at the New York Produce Show and Conference.
The product is a time- and waste-saving idea that’s right on trend with the plant-forward movement in consumer eating, said David Ranscht, who works for Gourmet’s Finest, as well as Five Star Premium Greens, Newfield, N.J.
The mushroom products can be used in burgers, omelettes, savory pies, stuffing and more.
“We can use mushrooms that are misshapen or too small and turn it into a premium item,” he said. “We’re focusing on trying to get chefs to use it, and I’m focusing now on institutional buyers, like schools.”
The company is coming out with a retail pack that’s similar to a McDonald’s McFlurry ice cream container, allowing consumers to shake the diced mushrooms out of the container.
