Longtime Florida salesman Stu Monaghan dies

Stu Monaghan, whose 30 years in the produce industry was focused on sales and management roles in the southeast, died Feb. 26. He was 52.

Stu Monaghan, whose 30 years in the produce industry was focused on sales and management roles in the southeast, died Feb. 26. He was 52.

The Giumarra Cos., Los Angeles, where he was the division manager for Giumarra Southeast, announced his death. He was based in Florida, where he spent most of his life in citrus sales.

He joined DNE World Fruit Sales, Fort Pierce, Fla., in 1997 and served in sales roles including Australian citrus manager and national sales manager, moving to Seald Sweet International, Vero Beach, Fla., as sales director in early 2016. Besides citrus, he also managed grape, apple and pear sales.

He joined Giumarra in early 2017.

Monaghan died after an 8-month battle with brain cancer, according to the Giumarra statement.

“We will always remember Stu’s commitment to our industry, good sense of humor, and ability to connect with growers and customers alike,” John Corsaro, CEO of the Giumarra Cos., said in the statement. “Our friend will be deeply missed. We offer our condolences to his family during this difficult time.”

Memorial service information will be available later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL, 32960 (www.vnatc.com).

He was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and moved to Winter Park, Fla., when he was three.

Survivors include his partner, Kristina Lorusso, regional business development director for Giumarra; her son, Jonah; daughters Caitlyn, Carly and Ava Monaghan; mother and stepfather, Mona and Relf Crissey; father, Richard Monaghan; and brother Alan Monaghan.
