Tanimura & Antle is promoting its Artisan sweet Italian red onions during peak season with a retail display contest running from mid-May through early July.

The “Be Bold” contest starts May 14 and ends July 8, including the holiday promotion periods of Memorial Day, Father’s Day and July Fourth, according to a news release.

“This display contest is a great opportunity to engage with our customer’s produce departments, as well as promote directly to the end-user,” Kyla Oberman, director of marketing for Tanimura & Antle, said in the release.

To support the promotion, the Salinas, Calif.-based company is offering retail partners point-of-purchase materials including high-graphic display bins, store banners, social media content and much more, according to the release.

Retailers enter the contest by creating a display in the produce department promoting Tanimura & Antle’s Artisan sweet Italian red onions for at least one week during the contest period, and then submitting a photo of the display via an online entry form.

The display can include complementary products including barbecue sauces, grill seasonings and other summer staples, but not other onions besides Tanimura & Antle sweet Italian red onions, according to the release.

All entrants receive a Tanimura & Antle apron, the top five displays receive a $100 Visa gift card, and the grand prize winner receives a Traeger barbecue grill.

The retail displays will be judged on use of the Artisan sweet Italian red onions and Be Bold in-store and digital assets, overall creativity, supporting store advertisements and social media support and reported sales success, according to the release.

Tanimura & Antle grows organic and conventional year-round supplies of its Artisan onions Tres Picos and Salinas in California, and in Yuma, Ariz.
