The Gainesville-based Florida Blueberry Growers Association received a Specialty Crop Block Grant in 2019 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a crop forecasting model, said Brittany Lee, the association’s president.

“While we are still in the early stages of this two-year project, we are optimistic about the positive impact accurate forecasting will have for Florida growers,” she said.

Florida’s blueberry season runs from March through May.
