Marijuana concealed in load of broccoli

A semi-trailer carrying broccoli was recently seized at the Pharr (Texas) International Bridge when officers found 600 pounds of marijuana in the shipment.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents discovered the illegal cargo, valued at $120,000 on Aug. 28. A CBP officer referred the blue Kenworth tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer containing fresh broccoli to the port of entry’s cargo facility for further inspection, according to a news release.

During a secondary inspection, officers found 44 packages of alleged marijuana concealed in the trailer, according to the release.

Customs and Border Protection seized the truck/trailer and the shipment.
