Dole debuts Just Add Chicken salad kits
Charlotte, N.C.-based Dole Food Co. has introduced a new line of salad kits that include leafy greens, dressings and toppings along with an original sauté sauce and seasoned finishing sauces for chicken.
Just Add Chicken kits serve two and have a suggested retail price of $4.29, according to a news release.
Available varieties are Pesto Caesar, Sweet Orange, Roasted Red Pepper and Lemon Herb Pepper.
“Dole is leveraging its industry leadership in salad kits to create healthy new meal possibilities for those who see cooking as an adventure and enjoy creating a flavor-first restaurant experience in their own kitchens,” Lisa Overman, Dole’s director of brand marketing for North America, said in the release. “The first four Just Add Chicken offerings were directly inspired by the most popular salad-chicken flavor pairings and restaurant menu favorites.”
Overman referenced in the release a May 2020 study by Google showing that, over the last five years, consumers are searching more for chicken recipes than other animal protein.
“The meal kit category is exploding among existing salad lovers wanting a more satiating, restaurant-quality salad experience,” Overman said in the release. “For Just Add Chicken, these benefits start with healthy, flavorful cooking options but extend beyond the plate to include culinary expression, time and cost savings with perfectly portioned servings that lead to less food waste.”
Dole provided in the release additional details about the options in the new line:
- Sweet Orange — Green leaf and iceberg lettuce, carrots, crispy wontons, Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette, Chicken Sauté Sauce, Sweet Orange Finishing Sauce.
- Roasted Red Pepper — Green leaf and iceberg lettuce, radicchio, crumbled garlic croutons, parmesan cheese, Creamy Balsamic, Chicken Sauté Sauce, Roasted Red Pepper Finishing Sauce.
- Lemon Herb Pepper — Green leaf and iceberg lettuce, radicchio, roasted onion pita strips, Red Wine Vinaigrette, Chicken Sauté Sauce, Lemon Herb Finishing Sauce.
- Pesto Caesar — Romaine lettuce, crumbled garlic croutons, parmesan cheese, Classic Caesar, Chicken Sauté Sauce, Pesto Finishing Sauce.
