LA & SF Specialty rebrands to Vesta Foodservice
LA & SF Specialty, Los Angeles, has a new trade name, Vesta Foodservice.
The ownership and corporate name remain the same, according to a news release.
Michael Glick, founder and owner, said the change matches the company’s expansion over the past 35 years.
“Our growth is a testament to our unwavering focus on taking care of our customers, suppliers, and employees,” Glick said in the release. “That continued focus was the impetus for taking a deep dive into our company brand and the decision to change the company name.”
The company opened as LA Specialty Produce in 1985 in downtown Los Angeles. As customers opened restaurants in other cities, the company expanded distribution. By 2001, the company had distribution facilities in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Phoenix, Rick Fisher, vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
“While Los Angeles and San Francisco are very important customer bases for us, we also have important customers and great teams working throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona,” Fisher said in the release.
While produce is an important part of the business, it now carries more than 3,700 non-produce stock-keeping units, including dairy and meats.
With the transition to Vesta Foodservice, the company has other plans for 2020, including a new website, expanded facilities and added product lines, according to the release.
Vesta is Roman goddess of the hearth, home and family, as well as the eternal flame.
“The eternal flame is a symbol of the fire used in kitchens to transform simple ingredients into amazing meals and also represents the company’s commitment, dependability, and consistency as a foodservice distributor,” according to the release.
