In recent months, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CFDA) has added additional acres to its huanglongbing (HLB) quarantine. The department has now expanded the HLB quarantine boundary in the Riverside area of Riverside County, grid 472.
CFDA states that with this extension of the quarantine boundary in the Riverside area, it also expands the Asian Citrus Psyllid Bulk Citrus Regional Quarantine Zone 6 in the Riverside area of Riverside County.
Last month, CDFA extended the HLB boundary in the Perris area of Riverside County, and in April, CDFA added part of the Riverside area of Riverside County to its quarantine.
Also known as citrus greening, the disease is caused by the Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus bacteria, which the Asian citrus psyllid vectors.
