Giumarra has added Fair Trade organic and conventionally grown hard squash from Mexico to its offerings.
The squash — butternut, acorn and spaghetti — is grown by Agroexport de Sonora S.A. de C.V. in Hermosillo. Jose Carlos Coppel and his son, Juan Carlos Copple are the principals.
The squash is available until the season ends in April, according to a news release, in different pack sizes under Giumarra’s Nature’s Partner brand.
“Fair Trade represents an important opportunity for us to work with our retail partners to show consumers that yes, every purchase can make a difference in the lives of farm workers,” Giumarra Cos. CEO John Corsaro in the release.
The squash is available in promotable volumes for the holiday season.
“That we can bring certified organic, Fair Trade squash to conscious consumers is very exciting for us,” Kellee Harris, western regional business director for Giumarra, in the release.
