The U.S. Apple Association, Falls Church, Va., has hired Christopher Gerlach as director of industry analytics.

He most recently was director of research at the International Council of Shopping Centers, and was responsible for generating research on social and economic contribution of the retail real estate industry, according to a news release from the apple association.

Gerlach will assume the portfolio of Mark Seetin, director of industry information, who is part time and is retiring; a transition will allow Gerlach to work with Seetin.

U.S. Apple President and CEO Jim Bair said this is an opportunity to “re-think and update” the position.

“Chris’ talent for economic analysis is impressive and will help take USApple to the next level of effectiveness,” Bair said in the release. “His skillset will supercharge everything we do.”

Gerlach will generate state-specific data on crop values and economic activity; analyze and report analytics and prepare monthly storage reports, among other duties.

“For the last decade I have been dedicated to creating and communicating research that demonstrates the integral role that retail real estate plays in the global economy,” Gerlach said in the release. “I am very much looking forward to leveraging those skills and abilities in service of the U.S. apple industry and all of the various sectors it represents.”

He joins the association on July 20.
