FMI appoints new associate general counsel

Dana Graber joined FMI in 2016 as senior counsel for FMI’s government relations team, providing support to members through regulatory tracking, development of regulatory strategy and compliance assistance.

FMI, The Food Industry Association, has named Dana Graber as associate general counsel and senior director of legal and regulatory affairs. Graber was promoted due to her dedication to FMI membership support along with her knowledge the legal and regulatory requirements impacting the food industry, according to a news release.

“Anyone who has had the opportunity to work alongside Dana knows that she is an indispensable member of the FMI team,” FMI Chief Regulatory Officer and General Counsel Stephanie Harris said in the release. “She is a talented attorney who does a tremendous job helping our members navigate complex and demanding legal and regulatory responsibilities. We’re incredibly pleased to recognize Dana’s dedication to our membership through this promotion today.”

Graber joined FMI in 2016 as senior counsel for FMI’s government relations team. In this role, Graber provided support to members through regulatory tracking, development of regulatory strategy and compliance assistance. Her primary focus was labeling and promoting strategies that will result in minimally burdensome and easily implementable rules for both U.S. Food and Drug Administration and USDA-regulated foods.

Prior to joining FMI, Graber was an associate attorney with Keller and Heckman LLP where she advised domestic and foreign clients regarding compliance with global food additive and food packaging regulations. She also assisted clients with submissions to the Food and Drug Administration, addressing food-contact substances and processes used in post-consumer recycled plastics. Before attending law school, Graber spent four years in the consumer packaging industry.

Graber earned a bachelor’s degree in packaging science from Clemson University and her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. She is an active member of both the North Carolina State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
