As consumers begin to embrace warmer weather and plan for seasonal spring gatherings, Fowler, Calif.-based grower-packer-shipper Bee Sweet Citrus is reporting a strong supply of lemons to help meet consumer demand.

“Spring is only a few weeks away, which means there’s no better time to market lemons at the store level than now,” Bee Sweet Citrus Director of Communications Monique Mueller said in a news release. “Because they can be used in a wide array of recipes, they can be marketed by themselves or used as an effective cross-marketing tool for other items.”

A grocery staple for many families, lemons are one of the most versatile citrus varieties. Merchandising possibilities are varied and plentiful as lemon’s tangy juice can help elevate the flavor of marinades, “mocktails” and numerous beverages, while its zest complements baked goods and salad dressings, according to the release.

“Lemons are often sought out for their flavor, but their use isn’t limited to just food and drink,” Mueller said in the release.

At about 20 calories per serving, lemons are nutritional powerhouses. They’re an excellent source of vitamin C and are currently being harvested in California’s Central Valley.

“They can also be utilized as décor for beautiful table arrangements, and their juice can be used as an ingredient to all-natural cleaners and DIY beauty products,” Mueller said in the release.
