Lipman Family Farms donates over 260,000 meals for families
Lipman Family Farms recently donated more than 260,455 meals to charities, far exceeding a goal of 75,000 that was issued as a challenge to employees as part of the company's 75th anniversary celebration.
And in just five weeks, employees donated more than triple the initial target, according to a news release.
“Our company’s success over its 75-year tenure has always been due to people: our employees, our customers, and the communities we work with,” Lipman Family Farms CEO Elyse Lipman said in the release. “We’re continuously inspired to be Good from the Ground Up by providing healthy and safe produce that is accessible to all.”
Lipman said the company’s culture defines the success of the program.
“Our community champions and dedicated office managers play a pivotal role in bringing our community initiatives to life,” Lipman said. “Their hard work and passion for philanthropy exemplify our commitment to our community partnerships.”
The company’s charitable efforts are driven by its three pillars of children, education, and hunger relief, the release said.
Company founder Max Lipman was unable to read or write, the release said, adding that his dream for a future where his legacy might create greater opportunity for future generations was the founding inertia for the philanthropic avenues the company has in place today.
The meal donations equate to feeding 52,000 families across 21 states and three countries, according to the release. All the meals were organized and donated through 27 community partnerships such as Manna Food Bank in Asheville, N.C.; Inspired Vision Food Bank in Dallas; the Community Cooperative Soup Kitchen in Ft. Myers, Fla.; the Immokalee Friendship House homeless shelter in Immokalee; Fla.; and the Food Bank of the Eastern Shore in Tasley, Va.
Each Lipman Family Farms location played a part in the event to help families in need, whether through donating produce, preparing meals or donating time, the release said.
Lipman Family Farms says it plans to continue the momentum with its annual Day of Good later in November, as 20 community volunteer projects have been planned throughout the company’s locations.
“Our employees continue to demonstrate that remarkable things happen when we unite for a common cause,” Lipman said.
