Raley’s is donating $297,672 to aid in Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts throughout the southeastern U.S., an offering the company says is made possible by contributions of its customers.
“For years, Raley’s customers have provided unwavering support to our Food for Families program that converts their donations into food for more than 2.2 million people each month through our partner food banks,” Chelsea Carbahal, vice president of community impact and public affairs for The Raley’s Cos., said in a news release. “Recognizing the great need following the recent hurricanes, we temporarily offered an opportunity for customers to contribute to relief efforts, and as they are known to do, our customers responded with great care, concern, and compassion.”
The hurricane relief donation, collected from Oct. 5-22 via customer contributions at Raley’s stores throughout Northern California and Nevada, was provided to Samaritan’s Purse, an international humanitarian aid organization based in North Carolina, the release said. Serving from the heart of the hard-hit region, the nonprofit organization has established multiple relief bases in western North Carolina, Florida and Georgia to assist with the storm recovery efforts.
“Samaritan’s Purse is deeply grateful for the generous support from the customers of The Raley’s Cos. for families impacted by Hurricane Helene. Their compassionate gifts will make a tremendous impact on the lives of those in need of hope and relief after Hurricane Helene. We are encouraged by the incredible support as we continue to help families recover in Jesus’ Name,” said Luther Harrison, vice president of North American ministries for Samaritan’s Purse.
In addition to the special hurricane relief efforts, the release said The Raley’s Cos. are deeply committed to giving back by addressing local hunger needs, advocating for good and focusing on child welfare, the environment and sustainability, food access, food system education and total wellness. The organization said it donated more than $3 million to local and regional nonprofits between 2022 and 2023.
