Lipman promotes Marc Danner to GM of protected ag
Lipman Family Farms has promoted Marc Danner as general manager of protected agriculture, with the second anniversary of the company’s purchase of greenhouse grower Huron Produce.
Danner has been with the company for 26 years, with the most recent title of general manager of the Immokalee, Fla., repacking operation.
“Our combined resources, like our fields, high-tech greenhouses and local partnerships in key markets throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico allow us to best serve our customers year-round,” Danner said in a news release. “But beyond the business benefits, this acquisition brought two family-owned businesses together and made for a valuable integration.”
Highlights of the Huron Produce integration into Lipman Family Farms, include:
- Increased footprint: the company added production facilities in Canada, Mexico and the Midwest U.S.;Supply continuity: Current spikes in retail and home-delivery highlight the need for availability;
- Lipman has Florida field and North American greenhouse production that ensures consistent product; and
- Expanded research and development: Lipman has a history of developing proprietary varieties, and that includes protected environment variety R&D.
“Protected agriculture is not immune to volatilities, and this integrated combination of hothouse and field allows us to provide a consistent, high-quality product that can meet our customers’ needs amid shifting demands,” Shawna Dalrymple, national sales for the company’s greenhouse brand, Suntastic.
