Florida's crops shape up great for some, tough for others

Prissy Fletcher is overjoyed. The cabbage crop is thriving this year in St. Johns County, just south of Jacksonville in northeastern Florida.
“Quality has been fantastic since beginning of this year, and I am beyond thrilled for my farmers. We are very stoked for our crops this season,” said Fletcher, the University of Florida Institute for Food and Agriculture extension agent representing the area. While the soil in other parts of the country is receiving seeds and prepping its annual comeback, Florida’s soils are shedding their duties, saying sayonara to their ripe and ready fruits and vegetables. Depending on who you ask, where they grow and what they’re growing, it’s been a great or challenging season so far.
