Hass Avocado Board partners with Southern California health center to help fight type 2 diabetes
The Hass Avocado Board is partnering with AltaMed Health Services, the nation’s largest independent federally qualified community health center, to offer communities in Southern California bilingual resources to help fight against type 2 diabetes.
Access to free glucose testing and education about how good sources of fiber, like avocados, may help reduce risk factors for type 2 diabetes are part of this joint grassroots effort to help prevent this potentially life-threatening disease.
According to the CDC, US adults overall have a 40% chance of developing T2D, but for Hispanic/Latino adults, there is more than a 50% chance.
