Business brief: Crown Jewels grape volume jumps

Volume out of Mexico will increase by 25% to 30% this season for Fresno, Calif.-based Crown Jewels Produce Co., said Jesus Gonzalez, general manager.

Volume out of Mexico will increase by 25% to 30% this season for Fresno, Calif.-based Crown Jewels Produce Co., said Jesus Gonzalez, general manager.

The harvest should get underway by May 15, he said.

The company also is working on certification for some organic vineyards, he said.

Crown Jewels has bought and sold organic grapes from other sources in the past, Gonzalez said, “but we’re on verge of having our own.”

Finally, Darrell Beyer, most recently with Boskovich Farms, Oxnard, Calif., has been named director of sales and marketing for Crown Jewels.
