U.S. fresh apple holdings 7% less than a year ago

In the last storage report of the season, the U.S. Apple Association reported June 1 fresh apple inventories are 7% less than the same time a year ago.

In the last storage report of the season, the U.S. Apple Association reported June 1 fresh apple inventories are 7% less than the same time a year ago.

In the group’s Market News report, June 1 fresh holdings were pegged at 27.6 million bushel cartons, compared with 29.78 million cartons last year and 25.3 million cartons in 2017.

By variety, red delicious fresh holdings of 8.97 million cartons were up 32% from a year ago but 24% less than two years ago.

Gala holdings on June 1 were 5.22 million cartons, 16% above last year and 31% above two years ago.

On the other hand, the report said Pink Lady holdings of 1.64 million cartons were 40% below last year and about the same as two years ago.
