The U.S. Department of Agriculture has scheduled a public hearing for changes to the marketing order for California walnuts.

The changes, proposed by the Walnut Marketing Board, would authorize the board to provide credit for market promotion expenses paid by handlers against their annual assessments, according to a news release from the USDA.

The hearing starts at 9 a.m. March 16 at the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova in Rancho Cordova, Calif. If necessary, the meeting will continue at 9 a.m. March 17. If the USDA agrees with evidence presented at the hearing that favors the changes, California walnut growers will vote on the amendments to the marketing order.

More information on the change is available from the Federal Register.
