With over 25 years of organic produce sales experience, Kevin Leap has recently joined the Santa Cruz, Calif.-based organic fruit importer Awe Sum Organics.

Leap will oversee the company’s sales department as vice president of sales and business development.

“We are excited that Kevin will now be responsible for leading the entire Awe Sum Organics sales team as we prepare to build out our sales and supply strategies for the future” Gabe Avalos, general manager of Awe Sum Organics, said in a news release.

Leap is well-poised to lead the Awe Sum Organics sales team because of his strong produce industry background and organic produce sales experience, Avalos added.

Leap brings broad knowledge of sales strategies, business development and commercial segment base, the company said. His lengthy produce career includes several years at Robinson Fresh as a senior category manager, as well as Green Fruit and West Pak, with a focus on avocado sales and business development, according to the release. Leap also spent several years at Dulcinea and Ready Pac, focused on specialty and organic produce sales.

“I admire and appreciate Awe Sum’s commitment to environmental concerns and adherence to fair trade. It shows the recognition of farmers’ hard work and concern for humanity,” Leap said in the release.

Leap will lead Awe Sum Organic’s sales strategy with a focus on customer service, relationships in organic and fair trade categories.
