It’s Jersey time for fresh produce, and big regional retailers know it.

The New Jersey Department of Agriculture hosted the Eastern Produce Council’s Annual BBQ May 23, at Demarest Farm in Hillsdale, N.J., celebrating a leader’s retirement, a scholarship winner and sharing crop updates.

New Jersey is the Garden State for good reason. Farmers in New Jersey produce more than 100 different kinds of fruits and vegetables for consumers to enjoy, according to data from Rutgers University.
