Avocados are taking to the water through the World Avocado Cup Regatta in San Diego Bay.

The July 13-14 event, co-hosted by the World Avocado Organization and the Peruvian Avocado Commission at the San Diego Yacht Club, will feature sailboats representing 10 avocado-producing countries including:

  • USA (California)
  • Colombia
  • Peru
  • South Africa

Invited guests at the yacht club will be served a variety of avocado dishes from participating countries.

“Hosting the first regatta in one of the top avocado-producing areas in the world seemed like a natural fit in promoting the healthy life-style that avocados represent,” Xavier Equihua, president and CEO of the World Avocado Organization, said in the release.
