Hanford, Calif.-based Nichols Farms has released new flavors of its single-serve, no-shell pistachios.
The company, which specializes in nongenetically modified, California-grown pistachios, is now offering pistachio flavors in spicy, savory and sweet.
“When we started sampling these with consumers, we knew we had a hit,” said Susie Nichols in a news release. She’s co-owner with Chuck Nichols of the fourth-generation family farm located in the heart of California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley. “They kept coming back for more and wanted to know where they could buy it.”
The new flavors are Jalapeño Lime, a blend of citrus and spice; Garlic and Garden Herbs, a blend of garlic, fresh herbs and sea salt; and Cocoa Cookie, a mix of rich, fudgy chocolate and powdered sugar, the release said. They come in 2-ounce, single-serve packaging, and each serving contains 7 grams of protein, meeting a growing consumer need for high-protein snacks with a lot of flavor, Chuck Nichols said in the release.
“We know shoppers want delicious, high-protein snacks, especially in the grab-and-go section,” he said in the release. “But they also want to know their food comes from a family they can trust. I’m really proud of what our team has developed.”
